Transportation of special equipment

Wheelchairs with electric motors for the transportation of patients and other mobile vehicles powered by batteries are accepted for carriage as checked baggage only with the prior consent of the carrier and mandatory compliance with the following conditions:

  • Wheelchairs with solid / non-leaking electric battery elements are accepted for transportation if the batteries are disconnected, the battery contacts are isolated to prevent accidental short circuits, and the batteries themselves are securely attached to the wheelchair

When accepting baggage according to the number of seats (Piece concept) on Uzbekistan Airways flights across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, the following items, regardless of their actual size, are accepted for carriage as pieces of luggage measuring 158 cm (62 inches) in the sum of 3 dimensions:

  • 1 sleeping bag, rolled mattress or tent
  • 1 backpack / satchel / shoulder bag
  • A set of ski equipment — one pair of skis, one pair of ski poles and one pair of ski boots
  • Golf Equipment Kit — 1 golf bag containing clubs and a pair of golf shoes
  • A cloth travel bag or suitcase of type 22 (according to the classification of the IATA Identification Baggage Card)
  • One packed bicycle (single-seat touring or racing bike without motor)
  • A set of water ski equipment — one pair of standard water skis and one pair of slalom water skis
  • A set of packed fishing equipment consisting of no more than two fishing rods, one reel, one fishing net, one pair of fishing boots and one box for fishing accessories
  • 1 small portable musical instrument, not exceeding 100 cm in length

Transportation of heavy and oversized baggage

Oversized and heavy baggage is considered:

  • When accepting baggage for transportation by weight — a piece of baggage more than 160 cm in the sum of 3 measurements) and weighing more than 30 kg
  • When accepting baggage for transportation by the number of seats— a piece of luggage more than 158 cm in the sum of 3 dimensions and weighing more than 32 kg

Baggage items that significantly exceed the established dimensional norms, having dimensions of more than 203 cm in the sum of 3 measurements, weighing more than 45 kg are accepted for carriage only as cargo.

Oversized and heavy baggage is accepted for carriage only upon prior agreement with the carrier and subject to payment of the relevant fees established by the carrier for excess baggage, plus fees for heavy or oversized baggage.

If a passenger has presented for carriage one piece of checked baggage, which is determined by its dimensions and / or weight as oversized and / or heavy, then for free transportation this passenger is allowed a baggage allowance established in accordance with the class of service paid for by him. In addition, the passenger is obliged to pay additional fees established for oversized and / or heavy baggage in accordance with the applicable method of accepting baggage for transportation (by weight or by the number of seats).

Payment for the transportation of heavy and / or oversized baggage when it is accepted for transportation by weight is made according to the following rules:

  • The fee established for the transportation of heavy or oversized baggage is charged separately for each piece of baggage exceeding the dimensions or weight established by the airline's rules
  • If a piece of baggage is both oversized and heavy, then a double fee is charged for its transportation

Transportation of baggage in the cabin of the aircraft in an additional passenger seat

It is allowed to carry radio, television, video equipment, computer equipment, diplomatic mail, fragile and especially valuable items as unregistered baggage in an additional passenger seat in the cabin of the aircraft, subject to the following conditions:

  • The consent of the carrier must be obtained
  • When making transportation documents, an additional seat must also be booked on the terms determined by the rules of application of the fare paid by the passenger for his transportation

Transportation of ski equipment (skis, water skis, snowboards)

When accepting for transportation of ski equipment (both snow and water) by weight, the passenger must pay a fee equal to the amount of payment for 3 kg of excess baggage, regardless of the actual weight of such equipment and the weight of the rest of the passenger's luggage.

If a passenger carries more than one set of ski equipment, each subsequent set of ski equipment is included in the free baggage allowance.

When accepting for transportation of ski equipment (both snow and water) by the number of seats (Tashkent— New York-Tashkent, Riga-New York-Riga), the passenger must pay 33% of the rate established for the payment of excess baggage, regardless of the actual weight of such equipment and provided that this set of equipment exceeds the established baggage allowance.

If a passenger carries more than one set of ski equipment exceeding the established free baggage allowance, then one full rate is charged for the carriage of each subsequent set, established for excess baggage.

The set of ski equipment includes:

  • One pair of skis
  • One pair of ski poles
  • One pair of ski boots
  • One pair of standard water skis
  • One ski for water slalom
  • One snowboarding board
  • One pair of shoes

Transportation of equipment for surfing and scuba diving

Surfing and scuba diving equipment is not included in the free baggage allowance.

When accepting such items for transportation, payment is made on the basis of the following rules:

The actual weight of the equipment is paid according to the baggage rate established for excess baggage, regardless of the weight of the rest of the baggage.

If a set of equipment for surfing or scuba diving exceeds the size and weight norms established for baggage, then fees are also charged for their transportation, in accordance with the rules of payment for oversized heavy baggage.

When accepting such equipment for transportation by the number of seats (Tashkent — New York-Tashkent, Riga-New York — Riga), payment is made on the basis of the following rules:

The passenger must pay 50% of the excess baggage rate for the carriage of one packed set of surfing equipment, the dimensions of which do not exceed 277 cm in the sum of three dimensions, or one full rate for excess baggage, if the size of the equipment exceeds 277 cm in the sum of three dimensions.

If a passenger carries more than one set of surfing equipment, then one full rate is charged for the transportation of each subsequent set, which is set for excess baggage.

The set of surfing equipment includes:

  • A surfboard or
  • A windsurfing board, one mast, a slant and a sail

The set of scuba diving equipment includes all or part of the following items:

  • 1 set of empty cylinders for breathing mixture
  • 1 controller
  • 1 diving suit
  • 1 pressure measuring device
  • 1 mask and 1 breathing tube
  • 1 pair of fins
  • 1 knife
  • 1 harpoon gun
  • 1 life jacket
  • 1 weight belt

Transportation of golf equipment

Acceptance for transportation of golf equipment by weight is made according to the following rules:

  • The passenger must pay a special fee equal to the amount of payment for 6 kg of excess baggage, regardless of the actual weight of such equipment and the rest of the passenger's baggage. Such a special fee is charged only for one set of equipment
  • If a passenger carries a set of golf equipment weighing more than 15 kg, or several sets of such equipment, the first 15 kg are paid in accordance with the above rule (payment for 6 kg), and each subsequent kilogram (over 15 kg) is counted in the free baggage allowance or, if it is exceeded, is paid at the usual rate for excess baggage

When accepting golf equipment for transportation by the number of seats (Tashkent — New York-Tashkent, Riga — New York — Riga), payment is made according to the following rules:

  • If a set of golf equipment exceeds the established baggage allowance, it is accepted for carriage on condition that the passenger pays 50% of the current rate for 1 piece of excess baggage, regardless of the actual weight of such equipment
  • If a passenger carries more than one set of golf equipment, one full rate is charged for the carriage of each subsequent set, which is established for excess baggage

The golf equipment kit includes one golf bag with a set of standard equipment and one pair of golf shoes.

Note:

An exception is the transportation of sports equipment for playing golf for passengers of flights operated by Uzbekistan Airways JSC jointly with Korean Air. For these flights, sports equipment for playing golf is included in the free baggage allowance and, if the specified allowance is exceeded, it is paid as excess baggage.
